Good News from Candy Gourlay (HS '80) as emailed to her classmates...
Dear Classmates I am ENORMOUSLY, GIGANTICALLY proud to tell you all that I have sold my novel TALL STORY for publication worldwide! Woo hoo! TALL STORY my book about a boy with gigantism will be published in hardback in June 2010 in the UK and then later in the year in the US. We are hoping that it will be out in the Philippines by July 2010, publshed by pinoy publisher Rayvi Sunico. It's been almost nine years since I started trying to get published, and almost two years since I got a publisher as a result of the Undiscovered Voices competition. What a roller coaster ride this business is. Now I'm switching to another roller coaster and I'm so happy amazed and terrified at the same time. i made a little video to celebrate on my website there's an interview with me on the Tall Tales and Short Stories Blog You can read the UK announcement here and here is the text of the Philippine announcement love from Candy Quimpo Gourlay

Marilou Reyes (HS '68) tells her classmates about the STAA-Sponsored Health Fair
Dear Folks, Those of you who missed the Health Fair and Aging Gracefully Workshop sponsored by our STCQC Alumnae Association, specifically the "Bahay Teresa" Committee, you missed a golden opportunity to avail of medical services that would have cost several thousands of pesos but which we got for free, thanks to Secretary Rodica. In addition, we also got very valuable information regarding dementia, alzheimers, "OLD ADULTHOOD:" and menopause. Thank you to our batch mates who came---Arit Katigbak (she was one of the work horses for this activity), Boots dela Cruz, Zone Narito, Mel Lopez, DJ de Jesus, Bubut Bunag, Billie Villavicencio and Imelda Nerida. I personally was able to avail of the ff: 1. Blood Sugar -(normal, thank God) Other services that were also available were: 1. Neurology Personally, I am scared of going to the doctor but since this opportunity was available, I mustered my fear and took advantage of the medical services available, thanks to the STAA.. So again, my thanks to STAA for a very valuable activity which was an opportunity for Theresians to bond but also to be informed about living a healthy life style, especially now that many of us are "SENIORS".
2. ECG (normal also)
